Happy Birthday, Canada!
New batch of eggs started yesterday, June 30th. Due to hatch July 21st.
A busy few days ahead, getting the three oldest boys ready and off to camp. Then two weeks alone with #4. Then 4 more weeks with #3 and #4. #1 and #2 will both be gone for six weeks!
Finally got some rain yesterday, so things have cooled off nicely, but of course, the bugs are back.
You make me want an incubator. I don't know what I would do with that many chicks!
ReplyDeleteBugs...ugh. We have had weeks of rain. I need to send some to you.
Well, I am hoping for chantecler crosses this time around. (Although, I am tempted to go on the hunt for a chantecler rooster). Little roos will hopefully meet the stew pot, and I might sell any hens I decide not to keep over winter. I think more than 8 hens would be too crowded in the basement, and I'm not sure I'm ready to trust even the chanteclers to spend the whole winter outside this year. Last winter was too rough, and I don't want to risk losing all of my stock again!
