Time to Mow the Lawn

I guess #2 decided he's had enough dandelions. Or he just wanted to take a nap. Or maybe he thought if he looked busy he wouldn't have to do anything else. Any way you slice it, Nelly is quite content to eat my dandelions.

  1. It must be quite warm since the younger boy has his shirt off! That's a shame about your dandelions!

    1. lol. #4 is crazy. Or lucky. Or has some kind of skin sensitivity disorder. He runs outside in the winter with no shoes on. He almost never wears shoes in the summer. His feet are like leather. He is shirtless pretty much from April til October. His back is like leather by mid summer. And the blackflies and mosquitos rarely bite him. And when they do, he gets these huge puffy welts that make me wince just to look at. Then they disappear an hour later, and he doesn't even scratch them!

It has been warm though, hitting the thirties some days.

  2. There's something charming about this pic. If only more kids could 'hang' with cattle, the world would be a better place. Some of my best friends were Billy and Benny. I was sad to see them go but they sure tasted good. And, yes, I know you wouldn't think of eating your sweet Nelly!

    1. I agree. Spending time with cattle requires a calmness and gentle voice that's hard to learn elsewhere, I think. It's not something you learn to appreciate without seeing the instant effects of losing that calmness.

Husband and I were just discussing my revulsion at the thought of eating Nelly. He thinks I'm losing my mind, lol. She's a cow, for crying out loud. But as I told him, I've had dogs that I'd have less aversion to eating than Nelly. She's really part of the family.
